Independent 3rd Party Lab Testing Results for HVAC Performance
All tests were conducted in a climate controlled test chamber at Exova in Warren, MI. The chamber housed (1) the APU and (2) a Full-Scale Model of a Simulated Truck Cab. Climate conditions inside of the Simulated Truck Cab were also controlled with an independent Thermotron system. Tests were conducted to determine: (1) Air-Flow Capacity, (2) AC Recovery Performance, and (3) Heating Recovery Performance.
Air-Flow Capacity Testing
Our HVAC Blower Operates at 3 Speeds (Low, Medium, High). Testing determined that the HVAC supplies the following Air-Flow Capacities:
-
Low Speed = 118.5 CFM (Cubic Feet of Air per Minute)
-
Medium Speed = 145 CFM
-
High Speed = 178.6 CFM
(Testing conducted with Vent / Louvers in Place)
AC Recovery Performance Test
Conditions:
-
Main Chamber Temp = Held Constant @ 100° F
-
Simulated Truck Cab Temp = 110° F Heat-Soaked before starting AC Recovery Performance Test
Results:
-
Recovery of Heat-Soaked Sleeper Cab Environment to Safe AND Comfortable Conditions within 9 minutes (Internal Cab Temp: 110°F > 77°F, External Temp: Controlled @ 100°F)
-
Internal Cab Temp:
-
110° F > 70° F within 15 minutes
-
110° F > 64° F within 20 minutes
-
110° F > 54° F within 30 minutes
-
Simulated Cab Temperature reached a low of 47° F with External Temperature held constant at 100°F (Minimal Insulation)
-
System provides consistent temperature drop throughout the Cab as measured by 6 individual thermocouples located throughout the Cab
Heating Recovery Performance Test
Conditions:
-
Main Chamber Temp = Held Constant @ -6° F
-
Simulated Truck Cab Temp = 14° F Cold-Soaked before starting Heating Recovery Performance Test
Results:
-
Recovery of Cold-Soaked Sleeper Cab Environment to Safe / Comfortable Conditions within 7.5 minutes (Internal Cab Temp: 14°F > 50°F, External Temp: Controlled @ -6°F)
-
Internal Cab Temp:
-
14° F > 60° F within 9 minutes
-
14° F > 70° F within 13 minutes
-
14° F > 77° F within 15 minute
-
Simulated Cab Temperature reached a High of 110° F with External Temperature held constant at -6°F. (Minimal Insulation)
-
System provides consistent temperature rise throughout the Cab as measured by 6 individual thermocouples located throughout the Cab
-
Additional testing shows that the APU can maintain a Cab Temperature of 42 - 54° F (Front of Cab vs. Sleeper Area) if windows are left open (or a door) when external temperatures are held constant at 2° F
Additional Heating & AC Performance Notes
• Average BTU Performance (Heating & Cooling) = 27,000 BTU’s (Rating determined via independent testing by 3rd Party lab. Graphical results available.) * System able to maintain High & Low Temps with a 50° F (+/-) differential between Cab and External Temperatures with minimal insulation.
Fuel Consumption
Average 0.18-0.25 gal / hour based on load & operating conditions. The following cases provide a more accurate depiction of fuel burn rates for your reference. Fuel consumption will vary based on Load, Climate, Operating Altitude, and Proper APU Maintenance.
-
Running the AC System and an Inverter (3000W) => 0.23-0.25 gal/hr
-
Running the AC System Alone => 0.20-0.22 gal/hr
-
Running the Heating System Alone => 0.18-0.20 gal/hr
-
Running the Heating System and Inverter (3000W) => 0.20-0.24 gal/hr
